Brauer Museum of Art

The Brauer Musuem of Art is home to a nationally recognized collection of 19th and 20th century American art and includes works by Frederic Edwin Church, Asher B. Durand, Child Hassam, Georgia O'Keefe, and Ed Paschke. It also houses the largest known collection of works by Junius R. Sloan, a Hudson River School painter who lived and worked in the Midwest. Other focus areas within the collection include world religious art and Midwestern regional art. As well as displaying selections from its permanent collection, the Brauer Museum hosts a full schedule of special exhibitions and events

3. University Theatre

University Theatre

The VUCA theatre is home to a multitude of student and professional performances throughout the year. It seats 290, has a computer based lighting system, an audio control booth, a trap door system on stage, and an orchestra pit that has been used in productions such as "The Triumph of Love" and "The Ballad of Baby Doe." The theatre department is also outfitted with a costume shop, both men's and women's dressing rooms, and a green room

5. Theatre/Video Studio

Studio Theatre

In addition to the main theatre there is a studio theatre in which student-directed productions are performed, including an annual series of "1-2-3-4-5" performances, sponsored by the TTVA Department and directed and performed by TTVA students.

The facility comes complete with a built-in curtain system, blue screen, computer based lighting system, and S-VHS post production editing equipment including a special effects board

6. Music Classrooms

Music Classroom

The music classrooms are geared toward classes such as theory, musicianship, and music history. Each room has a piano, a sound system for demonstrating musical examples via CD or cassette, and chalkboards with permanent music staves

7. Theatre Rehearsal-Classroom

This classroom is equipped with a sprung floor, mirrored walls (three of the four walls), and windows to the campus. It is primarily utilized for acting classes and rehearsals because of its large and informal space

8. Tiered Lecture Classroom

Tiered Classroom

The tiered classroom is the VUCA's largest classroom. It seats 90 people, has a video projection unit, dual rear-projected slide machines, surround-sound capabilities, and access to both the campus intranet and the world-wide-web

9. Seminar Classrooms

Classrooms

The seminar rooms are primarily used for non-arts related classes such as Freshman CORE, theology, or history. Each seminar room is equipped with TV and VCR and each has a beautiful view of the campus. The seminar rooms have large tables and comfortable chairs to facilitate easy discussion and group work

The VUCA has an instrumental rehearsal room for orchestras and the university bands. It has been fine tuned for its acoustical purpose

11. Bauer Hall - Choral & Organ Rehearsal

The university's many choirs practice in Bauer Hall which is equipped with a large organ and grand piano. It has been fine tuned acoustically

For those interested in organ, the VUCA holds two organ practice rooms, each complete with four tracker organs for student practice

13. Chamber Music Rehearsal/Recording Studio

The chamber music rehearsal room is for student ensemble rehearsals, serves as a digital recording studio with adjacent control booth, has a 9-foot Steinway Concert Grand which was newly rebuilt, and a Double-Manual harpsichord

14. Duesenber Recital Hall

Audiences are continually impressed by the VUCA's Duesenberg Recital hall. With a seating capacity of 240 (including balcony seating), the hall was designed specifically with chamber music in mind. The hall has been fine tuned for voice and piano recitals, string quartets, brass quintets, chamber orchestras, and has capabilities for recording concerts digitally

Digital Design Lab

The design lab that the VUCA offers has 18 Macintosh G4 computers, large screen color monitors, and industry standard software such as QuarkXPress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator. For scanning there are AGFA flatbed scanners, as well as a slide scanner. Digital projection is used for class demonstrations. Students are able to print to several different printers, including an Epson 7500 ink jet printer which delivers large format archival prints at professional standard quality and two B&W laser printers. A conventional design lab for assembly of projects and building of ideas is adjacent to the design lab for non-digital design work

Photography Lab

The facilities in the VUCA were designed to meet the needs of students of today and of generations to come, the photography lab is no exception. Located on the second level of the VUCA, the well-equipped photography lab holds 18 B&W stations and a color enlarging darkroom along with automated color film and print processing capabilities.

The photography classroom area is used for discussion of the history of photography as well as for student critiques. The lab wouldn't be complete without it's shooting studio complete with lighting for portraiture or still life photography
