Valparaiso University has been named one of the top 50 educational values among the nation's private institutions of higher education by Kiplinger's Personal Finance. In the magazine's April issue, Valparaiso is ranked among the top private universities of all sizes in the United States that provide a world-class education at a reasonable cost. Valparaiso ranks No. 47 on Kiplinger's list. Kiplinger's rankings are based on academic measures such as the SAT and ACT scores of students, student-to-faculty ratio and graduation rate, as well as affordability measures such as cost after need-based aid, financial support from grants and average debt at graduation.
VU Senior Betsy Rietema has been selected as one of five ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team selection for Division 1 women's basketball. She has a 3.97 GPA with majors in psychology and chemistry, and is the first women's basketball player named First Team Academic All-American.

VU's new Global Leaders Community (GLC) is a unique initiative from the Office of Residential Life that is open to both men and women. They will live in an intentional community in the suite-style first floor rooms of Brandt Hall. It is designed to enhance their experience of community and their understanding of the contributions of other cultures to a diverse and ever-changing world.
