Elizabeth Joins Stryker - Last month our VAN Student Assistant, Elizabeth Racop, was offered her dream job at Stryker in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Elizabeth graduates from VU's Electrical Engineering program in May and has wanted to break into the orthopaedic field. Check out her future employer at http://www.stryker.com/ And in case you're wondering - she's already volunteered to help with college fairs and connecting with Valpo's prospective students in the area!!
Legacy Brochure - I'm pleased to share that the Legacy Brochure we've been working on for the past 10 months is finally heading to the printer! This piece will be mailed to our alumni who are parents of high school juniors and sophomores. The brochure highlights 10 families who've built their college Legacy at VU, and is laced with facts about Valpo that can be shared with prospective students. We will be uploading a pdf of the brochure onto the VAN site so that you can check it out. If interested in a copy for yourself or to pass on to a Valpo family, drop me an email ! Thanks to the following VAN members for their assistance with this new piece:
Jon Hendricks - photography
Carol Schickel - proofreading
Matt Schroeder - printing
and these VAN members who shared their stories: Abby & Sarah Barnes, Rhoda Schur Decatur, Jan Duesenberg, Jon & Kim Olsen, Jane Orling, Carol Schickel, Matt Schroeder, and Debbie Spaulding!
Members Update - As of mid-February there are 570 alumni, parents and friends in the Valpo Admission Network! Welcome to new members Brian Boline (Norwalk, CT) and Jonathan Pasky (South Bend, IN).
College Fairs and Contacts - As of mid-February we've signed up for 30 college fairs (vs. 40 that we covered in all of Spring 2006). VAN student assistant Tyler Tappendorf is helping me seek out VAN members who can assist with fair coverage. We greatly appreciate when you get back to us letting us whether you can or can't help. If we don't hear either way, we assume you never received the email. THANKS!
With the High School Liaison Contact Program to date we've assigned 1,252 admitted students from 758 high schools to 303 VAN members! Thank you so much for taking time to call these students to welcome them into the Valpo family. The calls are appreciated by the students and parents, and even a message left on an answering machine makes a positive impact. Please don't forget to let me know what happens with your contact, even if you leave a message. I share this with our admission counselors and it reinforces that we all know who's doing what when the counselor can make reference to your conversation. Thanks again!
