Valpo Law Connects With South America
As people throughout the world become more connected, the need for attorneys with experience in international law increases.
A new summer program in South America is helping Valparaiso University School of Law students gain that experience. It is the second overseas legal program offered by Valpo Law—a summer program in Cambridge, England, has existed for a number of years.
In June and July, Valpo students spent time at the Universidad de Valparaiso and Universidad de los Andes in Chile and the Universidad del Salvador and Universidad Austral in Argentina.
They took courses on human rights and international labor law taught by Valpo law professors, attended guest lectures by Chilean and Argentine law professors, met with government officials and representatives of human rights organizations, and visited legal and government institutions.
In the future, the program will offer externship opportunities for law students and scholarly exchanges with law schools in Chile, Argentina and other South American countries.
