Kristin Congdon is a professor of film and philosophy at the University of Central Florida. Thomas Ray Crowel of Highland, Ind., is the author of “Scattered Harvest,” a novel set in rural Indiana in the early 1900s. The story exposes the abuse and corruption of the mental health system in that time period. Inspiration for “Scattered Harvest” came from events in Crowel’s family’s past, but it is not a history of his family. At the request of a Hollywood movie producer, he completed a screenplay for the book. Crowel is the founder of Faith Ministries Worldwide Inc.
