Valpo Business, Nursing Unite on Graduate Program

Valparaiso University’s colleges of Business Administration and Nursing are partnering on a new graduate program that will prepare nurses for leadership roles.

The M.S.N.-M.B.A. program, which launched this fall semester, allows nurses to simultaneously earn a master of science degree in nursing and a master’s degree in business administration.

“Nurses need to think strategically and have a command of accounting, finance, economics, marketing and operations management to go along with their nursing expertise,” says Janet Brown, dean, Valparaiso University College of Nursing. “Valpo’s joint program offers nurses advanced preparation in clinical nursing as well as the critical management skills they need.”

Depending on previous coursework and whether an individual is enrolled full-time or part-time, the M.S.N.-M.B.A. program can be completed in two to five years.
