This interactive play for children K-3 on safe and unsafe kinds of touching was written for Bridgework Theatre of Goshen, Indiana. The piece was developed and written over a 4-year period at the cost of $20,000 using experts in childhood education and child psychology as well as theatre techniques.
The play includes four animal characters: Little and Big Bear and Little and Big Moose. Interactions between characters and students take place before, during and after safe and unsafe kinds of touching which include sexual and physical violence. The actors, dressed in animal costumes, talk with the children during the play, soliciting suggestions and confirming safe and healthy behavior. The set is simple and easily set up and taken down by the actors for presentation on a stage, in a gymnasium or in a dining hall.
