Susan Adams is an associate professor of nursing and director of the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She is certified as both a clinical specialist in adult psychiatric and mental health nursing and as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. She helped write the first national certification exam for psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioners offered by American Nurses Credentialing Center in the fall of 2000. She also has extensive experience in group and family therapy. Adams received her Ph.D. degree in 2007 from Vanderbilt University.
