JAN M. (DODGE '78) DOUGHERTY

Jan M. Dougherty, an advanced dementia care expert, serves as the family and community services director at Banner Alzheimer's Institute. She has received many awards and honors including the Outstanding Contribution to Aging award from the Arizona Coalition on Aging in 1996; Gerontologist of the Year award, from the Arizona Geriatrics Society in 2004; and the Caring Spirit award for Individual Achievement, from the Area Agency on Aging-Region One in 2005. She was awarded the Vision award in 2006 from the Hospice of the Valley. Dougherty is a former board member of the Alzheimer’s Association and the Arizona Coalition on Aging. She is a current board member of the Arizona Geriatrics Society. She earned her B.S.N. degree from Valpo in 1978 and her M.S. degree in gerontological nursing from the University of Arizona in 1987. Dougherty has delivered numerous national presentations and published a variety of articles on aging issues and dementia care.
