Barbara Ehrman

Professor Ehrman joined the faculty in fall 2005. She teaches courses in both the undergraduate and graduate program. Prior to coming to Valparaiso University, she has held clinical nurse specialist positions in a private cardiology practice, cardiovascular service line with a focus on quality improvement, and a centralized education and development department with a focus on designing and implementing a house-wide evidenced based practice model in a tertiary hospital setting.

She comes to VU with previous teaching experience as an adjunct assistant clinical professor in the Department of Adult Health at Indiana University Graduate School of Nursing in Indianapolis. She has published articles in Critical Care Nurse, Critical Care Nursing Clinics of North Americ, and Dimensions of Critical Care Nursing and has presented at conferences locally in the midwest and nationally.

Areas of Specialization:

  • Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Cardiovascular and Critical Care Nursing
  • Certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Health Nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center

She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, and American Association of Critical Care Nurses. Her areas of interest included cardiovascular nursing, critical care, and evidenced based nursing practice.
