Faculty Scholarship

Faculty members in the department are expected to maintain an active scholarly and professional life. This includes, but is not restricted to, publishing and presenting research papers. In particular, the department embraces Ernest Boyer's idea of five forms of scholarship: Discovery, Integration, Teaching, Application, and Preservation, as discussed in his book "Scholarship Reconsidered: Priorities of the Professorate" (Carnegie Foundation, 1990).

Various members of the department are active at the sectional and national level of the Mathematical Association of America, serving as section officers, members of committees such as CUPM, Quantitative Literacy and Assessment. Other members of the department are active in the Association for Computing Machinery at local and national levels.
