ACLU president headlines civil liberties forum at Valparaiso Law
Thursday, January 3, 2008
American Civil Liberties Union President Nadine Strossen will address current civil liberties issues at a January 24 forum at Valparaiso University School of Law. Two Valparaiso Law professors will also speak at the forum, which is open to the public.
Ms. Strossen will give a brief overview and professors JoEllen Lind and D.A. Jeremy Telman will respond. The floor will then be open for questions and comments regarding civil liberties issues such as those related to the Patriot Act. The exchanges promise to be lively and informative.
“We look forward to this forum on matters of importance to all Americans, especially given recent events in world history,” said Valparaiso Law professor Penelope Andrews, who is coordinating the event. “Valparaiso Law is proud to offer both students and the community this opportunity to hear the views and experience of Nadine Strossen and our professors.”
Valparaiso University School of Law, founded in 1879, is located on the campus of Valparaiso University in Northwest Indiana, 55 miles from downtown Chicago.
