Our 2008 theme will consider and address the relationships between the church’s worship and its ongoing public life. Drawing on theological and, especially, eucharistic implications within the church's liturgy, presenters will address the public life of the church. In developing connections that create an ongoing and fluid interchange between public liturgy and public life, participants will reflect on the variety of ways these connections inform the church’s life. This Institute will motivate new ways of developing relationships between eucharistic life and political life, between public and private moral deliberations, through grounding in the church’s liturgy.
Launching a New 2008 Initiative
Preachers’ Retreat, April 3 and 4, 2008
The Advisory Council announces a first annual Preachers’ Retreat, to be held at the conclusion of next year’s Institute, April 3-4, 2008. The event is designed to encourage and support preachers in their weekly preaching task and will offer small groups, facilitators and mentors, worship and reflection in a retreat setting. The first retreat will be limited to 75 persons. Gifts from the Valparaiso Project on the Education and Formation of People in Faith and Martin E. Marty are supporting this first venture.
