Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering

Taking a Course on an S/U basis

The university policy on S/U is described in the University Catalog. The College of Engineering policy is as follows:

1. The following courses are not approved for S/U:

a. Freshman General Education requirements: Valpo CORE 115.

b. English 200 and required Theology electives.

c. Courses that are required of a minor or major.

2. At the student's request, faculty advisors may approve taking the following courses on an S/U basis:

a. Physcial Education.

b. Free elective.

c. Academic Area Studies Electives.

d. Courses taken over and above those required for a degree.

3. Note that a grade of C- or better must be achieved to receive an S.

Green design explored in talk

Two experts in the design of environmentally-friendly buildings and business activities will discuss the benefits of “green” engineering during an April 30 talk at Valparaiso University.  Valparaiso alumnus John Abrecht, senior architect and director of sustainable design at Knight Engineering & Architecture, and Tim Carey, a chemical engineer at Quaker Oats, will present “Sustainable Design Engineering.”
