Grant looks to replace fossil fuels with sunlight

August 31, 2006

A Valparaiso University engineering professor and his students will explore ways to make wide-spread use of solar energy possible and reduce the world's hunger for oil and other fossil fuels with a $300,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.
    Dr. Robert Palumbo, Jenny professor of emerging technology and one of the world's leading solar energy researchers, will lead the project to study the industrial potential of high temperature solar electrolysis over the next five years, four with NSF support.
