Future engineers to test drive equipment

Future engineering students will get an opportunity to test drive equipment they may one day be designing during a Career Day hosted by Valparaiso University's College of Engineering this Saturday, Sept. 16, in cooperation with Caterpillar Inc.

Grant looks to replace fossil fuels with sunlight

A Valparaiso University engineering professor and his students will explore ways to make wide-spread use of solar energy possible and reduce the world's hunger for oil and other fossil fuels with a $300,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.
    Dr. Robert Palumbo, Jenny professor of emerging technology and one of the world's leading solar energy researchers, will lead the project to study the industrial potential of high temperature solar electrolysis over the next five years, four with NSF support.

Virtual reality open houses to begin this week

August 28, 2006

Open houses beginning this week at Valparaiso University's Scientific Visualization Laboratory will give the public an opportunity to experience virtual reality and its applications. Open houses in the lab will take place 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays from Aug. 31 though Dec. 7.

Student builds faith, gains engineering experience

This summer, Valparaiso University senior Faith Dunn of Rochester, Minn., put her engineering know-how to work while serving her faith as a part of a team designing a Christian wilderness camp and conference center in Albania.
    Dunn, a civil engineering major, was one of two student interns working on the project for Engineering Ministries International (eMi), a non-profit Christian development organization that designs facilities to help children and families in developing countries step out of poverty.
