Middle Level Education Program
(Grades 5-8)

Valparaiso University offers students a curriculum for those pursuing a career as a middle school teacher. There is a tremendous need for specialized training to reach and teach students 10 to15 years old. Kids in that age group are unique. They are unique in their requirements, in their social needs, their attention spans and in their emotional as well as their academic needs. Valparaiso University is aware of the instruction future teachers need to best reach the middle school set.

Changing minds, shaping the future.

Middle school teachers help students delve more deeply into subjects introduced in elementary school and expose them to more information about the world.

Students who wish to major in middle school education will choose two content areas from the following:

  • Language Arts
  • Social Studies
  • Science
  • Mathematics

Preparing students for the future workforce is a major stimulus generating the changes is education.

Middle Level graduates are able to interact with others, adapt to new technologies, and logically think through problems. Teachers provide the tools and environment for students to develop these skills.

The Education Department is excited about the Bachelor of Science in Middle Level Education.
