Accounting Specialization

The MBA with accounting specialization is designed for those students who have an undergraduate degree in accounting and who plan to pursue a career in public accounting.  The combination of an undergraduate accounting degree and the Valparaiso University MBA with this specialization satisfied the 150-hour educational requirement for taking the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam in most states.

Students pursuing the Accounting Specialization should have completed the following coursework: Intermediate Accounting I and II, Cost Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, and a first course in Tax Accounting.  Coursework will be evaluated on an individual basis.

On occasion a student without an undergraduate degree in accounting may be interested in returning to school to complete those requirements.  In these cases special arrangements can be made for students to attend class during the day.  Typically this is done by the full-time student and enrollment will then be two years at a minimum.

In order to complete the accounting specialization, in addition to undergraduate requirements, students must take at least 8 of their 12 elective credits in the MBA Program in Accounting related coursework.

In order to apply to the Accounting Specialization students must complete all regular MBA application requirements.
