Valpo Students Work to ‘Commercialize’ the Super Bowl
Sixteen teams of Valparaiso University College of Business Administration students recently submitted commercial ideas to the Chevy Super Bowl College Ad Challenge in hopes of achieving the ultimate prize: the opportunity to produce an advertisement to be aired during Super Bowl XLI.

Although none of Valpo’s teams made it to the Super Bowl, the project provided invaluable hands-on experience and exceptional material for student portfolios.
“I like to think that Valparaiso University is a small school with big opportunities,” says Valerie Brown ’08. “It’s not everyday that you get to work on a class project that may also be aired during the Super Bowl. The Chevy Super Bowl College Ad Challenge really got my classmates and me excited about applying what we learned in the classroom to something real.”
Sarah Dyke ’07 agrees. “Working on the ad project allowed me to use my creative side, such as Photoshop and sketching, while still applying my business knowledge, like consumer behavior, strategy and psychology,” she says. “My teammates really contributed to building my teamwork and brainstorming skills. Our meetings were exciting because we had the chance to work off of each other’s thoughts and bring into light new perspectives that each of us might not have otherwise considered on our own.”
